100-147 – Five Beatles In Melbourne

$450.00

The Beatles on the balcony (centre) of the Southern Cross Hotel in Melbourne to greet fans who had congregated outside. The photo was taken on 14 June 1964 and is significant because it includes Jimmy Nicol, who had stood in for Ringo Starr for the first 13 days of the band’s world tour, performing in a total of ten shows in Denmark, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Adelaide. There are plenty of photos and some film footage of Nicol with the other three Beatles, but photos that include both him and Ringo are few. The day after this photo was taken, Nicol was on his way back to England and obscurity.
