1994. Aku, a native Norfolk Islander, steers away from a cargo ship after loading a lighter with goods bound for Norfolk Island. The island has no harbour and most goods, large and small, come via ship, so they have to be transferred to lighters (small unpowered boats) that are towed to the pier, then hoisted by cranes onto the pier.
